Oak, black and travertine
A black island, oak fronts and a travertine table in a single white room. One bedroom, furnished, on a first floor with a lift.
The whole home can be taken in at a glance. Kitchen, dining area and sitting area share a white room with no partitions, organised by the furniture: a floor-to-ceiling run of pale oak kitchen units, a matt black island with a sink and three stools, a travertine table for six with curved-back black chairs and, with its back to the table, a stone-grey modular sofa facing the television.
The oak run houses the oven and microwave in a tall unit, and leaves a recess with a pale marble worktop and splashback, lit from beneath the cabinets, where the hob sits. Above the island hangs a slim black linear light, fine as a pencil stroke. On the sitting-area wall, a floating oak unit beneath the television and two white doors with black lever handles. Pale wood boards throughout.
The palette is short and repeated with discipline. Pale oak in the kitchen, on the bedroom headboard and on one bathroom wall; softly veined marble behind the hob; unpolished travertine on the dining table; large-format grey stoneware in the shower. And a single colour for everything you touch: the matt black of the taps, the handles, the wall lights, the chairs and the mirror frame.
The bedroom repeats the idea of the main room with even fewer elements. A half-height oak panel runs along the entire wall and serves as the headboard; above it, a concealed line of light washes the white wall, and on the wood, two black cylindrical wall lights serve as reading lamps. The bedside tables, in the same oak, float out from the panel with a drawer and an open niche.
White bed linen, a quilted sand-coloured bedspread, two houndstooth cushions and a classical architectural print in a black frame on the wall opposite. By the door, a built-in wardrobe with flat white doors and a horizontal black handle.

The bathroom rounds off the home with the same logic: an oak wall with a round, backlit, black-rimmed mirror, a floating white vanity with a countertop basin and a black wall-mounted tap, a wall-hung WC and a level-access shower behind a fixed glass panel, with a ceiling rain head and black fittings. The rest is large-format pale grey stoneware, on floor and walls.
Outside is the Salamanca district: the grid of the 19th-century extension, with its straight streets of shops and doorways, the Serrano and Velázquez axis, metro lines 4 and 5 crossing the district and the Retiro to the south. Let furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen, in a building with a lift. A home for one person or a couple who want to arrive with just a suitcase.
